Authentication

ModelDock API keys start with sk_modeldock_. Create and revoke them in the dashboard. A key belongs to your account and works for every model you have launched.

Sending the key

Send the key as a bearer token, which is what the OpenAI SDKs do when you set api_key:

Authorization: Bearer sk_modeldock_...

The Anthropic SDKs send the key in an x-api-key header instead, which ModelDock also accepts.

Authentication errors

A missing or malformed key returns HTTP 401 with code invalid_api_key. A key that does not exist or was revoked returns 401 invalid_api_key too. Do not put keys in client-side code or public repositories.
